Hillsborough Dog Training
Our Training Center
Dogs are individuals. If the dog cannot learn the way we teach, we must teach in a way the dog understands. Some dogs need help learning to use the bathroom outside, redirecting excessive barking, and coming when called. We teach in group settings, as some dogs learn better this way. We also teach one-on-one to help each dog succeed on their learning level.
Classroom #1) is the training room. They learn basic skills to improve their manners and are introduced to physical activities to redirect playful, nervous, or impulsive energy. We modify activities for elder, injured, and timid dogs.
Classroom #2) is outside. The dogs learn to socialize. Socializing teaches them to play nicely together. Play time sometimes gets chaotic, so we redirect the energy with climbing and jumping equipment and other fun, training games to keep the dogs engaged with the trainers.
Classroom #3) Field trip to pet friendly establishments. We’ll teach your dog basic manners in public settings.
Boarding School Program
We do all of the hard work for you! With the busy lives most families live, it’s hard to schedule time to train your dog, so we save you time and frustration. Your dog lives with us and the trainers work with your dog every day for three weeks, so your dog will be completely trained when you pick him/her up. We will email report cards post pictures via social media to update you on your dog’s training progress. We will also do a one on one lesson with you, your family, and your pup to guarantee your dog will consider you his/her leader, as he/she does the trainer. Half payment is due the day you drop off your pup for training and the balance is due upon completion of the program.
Each dog has different behaviors that need fine tuning, so we customize each program to fit our client’s needs. No need for training to interfere with your job. We work around your schedule.
After the program is completed, we are here for FREE to help the remainder of your dog’s life. We have openings available immediately Monday-Friday 9 am- 4:30 pm. Please let us know if you have any other questions and we look forward to doing business with you.
Boarding School Program
Basic Obedience Program
Program cost is $2100 in-board (3- week course)
This course is for basic control in and around the house. At the end of only three weeks, your dog will do the following on-leash: SIT, DOWN, STAY with distractions, COME, HEEL at your side and automatically sitting when you stop, PLACE, LEAVE IT, DROP IT, and OFF, to keep your dog from jumping on you, other people, or furniture. We also work on problem behaviors such as socialization, nipping, chewing, digging, walking through doors properly, greeting people politely, and any other unwanted behaviors. All commands are to be performed the first time they are given. Dogs aged 3 months and up.
Basic Obedience & Leash-Free Recall
Program cost is $2600 in-board (3-week course)
This program is a compromise between the basic on-leash program and the full advanced training program (below). The dog is trained to SIT on one command, DOWN on one command, STAY (in a sit or down position until released), HEEL at your side, automatically sitting when you stop, LEAVE IT, and OFF, all on-leash. However, the dog will be trained to COME when called whether on-leash or off-leash with distractions. We will also teach your dog how to properly greet people without jumping up and how to go through doors and gates under control. Dogs aged 6 months and up.
Leash-Free Advanced Program (6-Week Course)
Program cost is $3500 (in-board only)
This program is designed for a dog that has no obedience training and offers complete freedom from the leash. It results in voice control over your dog from a distance, even with distractions with all of your commands. For clients who want that extra measure of control at the beach, hiking, swimming, etc, without having to worry about lines and leashes. The dog is trained to respond to all of the commands without the leash. The commands taught are: SIT, DOWN, STAY, COME, HEEL, OFF, LEAVE IT, properly greeting people, and PLACE, so you can send your dog to his/her “place,” a bed or mat, on command. This keeps him/her under control and comfortable when company is over, or if you just need a break. We also teach a DOWN AT A DISTANCE command. Use this one if your dog crosses a road and you’re afraid to call him/her to “come” because there are cars coming, say “DOWN” and your dog will remain there until you approach and release him/her. When done all at once, this course is less time in training. Dogs aged 6 months and up.
