Doggy Day School

Our outdoor play/exercise area consists of 4 yards. All our yards are covered with artificial turf to help keep your dog clean and comfortable. The yards are disinfected daily, and we have an underground sprinkler system that comes on at night to help make sure our yards are as sanitary as possible. Each yard is equipped with misters. These misters are set on a timer and help keep your pet and the top dog team cool. The pavilions provide shade from the sun and each yard has a pool for your pet to splash around in. Your pet will have access to water the entire time they are in day school. We have swimming pools for those that enjoy a dip in the water to cool off. We also have exercise and agility equipment to keep your pet active.

While attending day school, we like to keep our groups smaller to allow more attention from the Top Dog Team. One trainer is assigned to every 10 dogs.

Day School is 6 hours of physical and mental activities. While your pet is with their trainer, they will be working on 3 basic commands in a group setting. The trainer will focus on sit/ stay, down/stay, and come when called. At the end of the day, you will receive a report card outlining your pet’s activities and progress for the day. We upload pictures throughout the day so be sure to like us on Facebook so you can see how much fun your pet is having.

Why Our Dog Day School Stands Out From the Pack

At our Dog Day School, we go far beyond the standard daycare experience. We’ve carefully designed a program that balances physical exercise, mental enrichment, and social development to help your dog thrive. Here’s what sets us apart:

Rotational Yard Enrichment: Our facility features multiple specialized training yards, each equipped with unique agility and enrichment tools. Dogs rotate between yards throughout the day, ensuring they stay mentally and physically stimulated while avoiding boredom.

Obedience in Real-World Environments: We teach essential skills—like basic commands and impulse control—in high-distraction settings. Your dog won’t just learn to “sit” or “stay” in a quiet room, but will master these commands amidst excitement, activity, and other dogs.

Track & Field Time: Our obstacle courses and agility equipment aren’t just for show. We use them to build confidence, focus, and physical fitness. Your dog will love racing through tunnels, weaving poles, and leaping over hurdles—all under expert supervision.

Meditation & Mindful Downtime: Even the most playful pups need to recharge. That’s why we include structured rest periods in quiet indoor spaces with calming music. It helps prevent overstimulation & supports emotional regulation—especially for more sensitive dogs.

Smart & Safe Socialization: Recess is more than free play—it’s thoughtfully curated group time. We match dogs by size, temperament, and play style, giving them the chance to build friendships in a safe, supervised environment.

Enrichment & Cognitive Games: We engage your dog’s brain with scent work, search-and-find activities, puzzles, and play-based learning. From nose-to-ground scent zones to mentally challenging problem-solving games, your dog will be busy thinking as well as playing.

Thoughtful Themed Weeks: Every week brings a fresh, exciting theme—whether it’s “Pirate Pups Adventure” or “Sensory Safari.” Our rotating themes keep the curriculum fun, creative, and seasonally inspired so your dog is always engaged and never bored.

Splash & Swim: Every yard features a pool for supervised swimming and water play. It’s a great way to cool off, stay active, and add variety to your dog’s daily routine.

Requirements

Every pet that comes to Top Dog is evaluated to ensure we match your dog’s personality with the group that fits them best. Each pet must pass an evaluation before being placed in group for safety. Our groups are broken down into 5-9 types. The groups are determined by your dog’s size and play style. Each group has a number attached to it and once your pet is evaluated that number is then attached to your pet’s profile to ensure the proper placement every time he or she visits.

We require a half day of day school for our trainers to evaluate how your dog socializes in a group setting. One of our trainers will then meet with you and give you an overview of your dog’s behavior and social skills.  There is ½ day of school charge of $18.  If your dog is a first-time boarder and you are unable to meet with us before your scheduled boarding, the evaluation will be done the first day of boarding and the $18 fee will be added to the dog’s stay.

What to Bring:

1. Vaccination records

To show proof your pet is up to date on the following: DHLPP (The annual or 3-year vaccine), Rabies, Bordetella (Canine Cough), Canine Influenza, Negative Fecal results (within 6 months of boarding start date), and Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention. They can be emailed ahead of time if you wish, or we can make copies at the time of drop off. We cannot accept any dogs into our facility that do not have proof of these vaccinations. This is to ensure all dogs are protected.

Please let us know if your pet has a special diet or feeding instructions.

2. Worming

Negative Fecal results (within 6 months of boarding start date). We cannot accept any dogs into our facility that do not have proof of these results. This is to ensure all dogs are protected. Dogs can carry worms from puppy hood throughout their lives. Their immune system keeps them dormant most of the time along with preventative worming. We recommend having your dog wormed before arriving.

If your dog is on Simparica, Heartguard Plus, Sentinal, Trifexis, or Interceptor, your dog is already being wormed monthly. Preventive worming does not guarantee your dog against worms but should kill any adults your dog is currently carrying.

3. Update Emergency Contact Information

Accidents and illness can happen as these social pups play all day and then camp out with their canine friends. When filling out the emergency contact information, please make sure the contact is in town and available to pick up your dog, and/or make medical decisions if needed. We will always notify the pet parent first.
